Travel Tips

DON’T GET STUCK AT THE BORDER! With over 20,000 people attending The MTN Bushfire Festival, many of them coming from outside of Swaziland, the borders can be heavy with traffic. Consider using one of the lower volume border posts (they keep shorter hours than Golela and Oshoek so see link below for operating hours) or think about planning your trip to arrive the day before or at least early in the day to avoid long waits at immigration.

SOUTH AFRICA REQUIRES ADDITIONAL PAPERWORK TO BRING MINORS ACROSS THE BORDER! PLEASE SEE THE IMMIGRATION SECTION BELOW FOR DETAILS!

Keep the fire burning and arrive alive by assigning a designated driver. There is plenty to enjoy at the festival so don’t become a statistic and risk your life or the lives of others by driving under the influence. Drinking and driving is taken very seriously in Swaziland and road blocks are common.

Please watch your speedand be safe at MTN Bushfire - don’t race the road.
Stay alive and alert!Tiredness can significantly reduce your reaction rate and responses, so make sure you save some energy for your onward journey.
