LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO, BONGO MAFFIN, BHOLOJA, FLOEWE & GLOBAL ROSTER OF ARTISTS ANNOUNCED


MTN BUSHFIRE 2014, Swaziland’s international festival of the arts will be taking place from May 30th – June 1st 2014. This year’s festival promises the most diverse line-up to date, with the event set to become the largest world music festival in the region.  MTN BUSHFIRE 2014 is increasing the global diversity of its line-up to create something truly unique in Southern Africa.

 

Already well established as a top Pan-African festival, it was recenlty named by CNN as one of the “7 African Music Festivals You Really Have to See” (http://edition.cnn.com/2014/02/21/travel/africa-best-music-festivals/index.html)

 

Festival goers will enjoy dozens of artists from all over the world performing in a 100% socially responsible festival. More than just a music festival, MTN BUSHFIRE is a celebration of live music, theatre, poetry, film, circus, dance and visual arts. A vibrant handcraft market, family-friendly performances & KidZone as well as the interactive art and dialogue space, The Barn, combine to create a magically eclectic three day entertainment experience.

 

Already for MTN BUSHFIRE 2014, artists from over 10 countries have been confirmed including diverse acts such as the much-loved and 70’s inspired Bogota based Colombian Salsa artists, La 33, Mokoomba (Zimbabwe), Under Kontrol (France), Red Five Point Star (Slovenia), and Imperial Tiger Orchestra (Switzerland) and the Nomadic Wax Orchestra from the United States.  

Swaziland’s incredible creative talent is also featuring on MTN Bushfire stages, including Bholoja, Floewe, Qibho & Sands and the PelePele Cultural group.

 

Some of South Africa’s biggest and most loved names will also be heading to MTN BUSHFIRE this year with confirmed artists including none other than multi- Grammy award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo, as well as the incredible Bongo Maffin, Uhuru, Derek Gripper, Dan Patlansky and Muzart.

ABOUT MTN BUSHFIRE FESTIVAL

Formed in 2006, MTN BUSHFIRE has a well-deserved reputation for its visionary approach. The festival aims to develop the arts whilst promoting social responsibility. Through its thoroughly innovative and development focused approach, the festival gives back to the people of Swaziland with 100% of profits donated to two Swazi charities; Young Heroes, a child sponsorship programme assisting Swazi orphans, and Gone Rural boMake, a charity that assists rural Swazi women and the communities with information and infrastructure development, addressing health, education and social concerns.
